The Church of St. George at the Monastery of Staro Nagoricane is the best known cultural and historical monument in the Kumanovo's vicinity.
The Church was built in the 11th century and was reconstructed in the l4th.
1912 Balkan War Memorial (Battle of Kumanovo) - Kumanovo, Macedonia
The Battle of Kumanovo (Macedonian and Serbian cyrillic: Kumanovska bitka) on 23 - 24 October 1912 was a major battle of the First Balkan War. The monument was built in the location of the battle and rumored that some of the unclaimed bodies of the soldiers were buried in a crypt underneath. The monument was mostly destroyed in WWII by advancing troops who saw the monument as a key observation point for enemy troops.
The Monuments tower was fully blown off and all that remains today is the first 2 floors.
